Notice Anything Different?

As you can hopefully see, we’ve completely upgraded the Tribe site (and the Better Basketball site as well). I hope you like it and I hope it makes you even more excited to be part of the Tribe.

With these changes, we’ve changed the focus of the Newsletter and for those of you who aren’t already on the list, I want to let you know what’s going to happen in the next few months.

Since the Tribe is all about the Read & React, we’ve decided to make the Newsletter all about defense. Coaches have been hounding us for the last year about a Read & React Defense. Fair enough, the Newsletter is the start.

But, this isn’t just going to be a normal, run of the mill, hey, I get a newsletter from everyone and their brother I don’t need one from you kind of newsletter. We’re doing something much cooler.

Introducing Wiki-Defense: a collaborative defensive experiment.

Here’s the deal. Rick has been working with Dick Helm (Lenny Wilkens’s assistant for almost the entire history of basketball) on a team defensive system. This system is not overly polished, yet, but it is pretty awesome.

So, we’re going to be sending out pieces of this defense to our Tribe Newsletter subscribers. Sounds good, right. Well, don’t start thinking that you don’t have to do anything in return. I want you to read the sections, think about them, talk about them, even dream about them. Then, write down your thoughts and send them to me: what you liked, what you didn’t like, points you think should be added, drills you think could build this particular habit, point out any holes you see, etc.

I’ll take your notes, pick out the best of the best, organize them in a meaningful way and send them out as another Newsletter.

Effectively, we’ll be building this defense as a group (hence the “wiki” part). Now, if you want to be a part of this experiment, sign up for the Newsletter, we’ll be sending the first issue out soon!

And yes, the Tribe Newsletter and the Newsletter on the main Better Basketball site are different so if you want both, you need to sign up for each one individually. And, if you’ve already signed up for the Tribe Newsletter in the past, you don’t need to sign up again.

Oh, by the way, feel free to let me know what you think about the new site design or the Wiki-Defense concept in the comments section. I’m interested in your feedback.

The layout looks great in IE or Chrome, but it breaks in Firefox.
