As some of you may have known (and hopefully participated in), PGC Basketball held its first Coaching Clinic Telephone Call last Sunday night with Rick as their guest clinician. And, they were kind enough to give us a copy of the audio file from that night and I’ll be sharing portions of it with you over the course of a few blog posts.
Over 120 coaches learning new trends and techniques from the comfort of their own easy chairs… or desk chairs… or… well, you get the point. It’s genius!
The first section of the call was an overview of why Rick created the offense in the first place; the problems he was trying to solve and the process by which the solution presented itself. If you’re a seasoned Read & React coach, this will be interesting as a history lesson, but if you’re on the fence as to whether or not the Read & React is right for you, this will give you clear insight into Rick’s methodology.
The second section deals with implementation – specifically how long it takes to put in the layers (teaser: it depends) and also speaks to the 12 Days of Practice that TJ Rosene used with his Emmanuel College team earlier this year.
