Here’s another READ & REACT OFFENSE SUCCESS STORY from Liberty Christian High School, a non-denominational Christian school located in Anderson, Indiana! I’ve always felt like “success begets success” and this story is a good illustration! It’s also a great illustration of the power and impact of good coaches!
From: Ryan Jackson – Assistant Boys and Head Girls Coach
We introduced the Read and React to our Boys Varsity Program in 2012. Since 2012 we have finished each season as one of the top scoring teams in the state of Indiana. 2016 was a historic season for our Boys Basketball team. We finished the season with a record of 26-4, and won the first IHSAA State Championship (Class A) in school history, in any sport. On our way to a State Championship, we won our 5th straight Sectional Championship, our 2nd straight Regional Championship, and our first Conference (PAAC) Championship. We averaged 73 points per game, which was 2nd in Class A and 10th in all classes. Our average game scoring margin was 21, which was 1st in Class A and 5th in all classes. In our semi-state game we scored 103 points, which was a record in the Class Basketball Era.
This year I took over the Girls Varsity Program a month in to the season. I immediately installed the Read and React and experienced quite a bit of success. After installing the Read and React we improved our scoring average 10 points per game. We ended the season with 16 wins, which is the most in program history. We also went on a 6 game winning streak, which is the longest in school history. The team also won the first Sectional Championship in program history before falling at Regional.
To the coaching staff: Ryan, Mike, Jason, & Marsha – Congratulations from Better Basketball and thanks for sharing your success! – Rick Torbett
