This week’s Spotlight features Tim Grant. Coach Grant is the Varsity Girl’s Basketball coach at Fort Meade Middle/Senior High School (Fort Meade, FL).
I am currently coaching varsity girls basketball in Florida. When we started in November with a preseason classic, our offense was very stagnate. We lost our first game to a large school by 25 points. The next game of the tournament, we were victorious against a district foe by 11 points. After those two games, I talked to my assistant coaches about the need to do something that would help our team become more successful on the court. I was looking for a system that was easy for the players to understand. It was then, while I was sifting through the internet for various types of motion offenses, that I found Better Basketball.
I have always been one to try new things so I didn’t hesitate to listen to the overview of the offense. Rick Torbett has done a tremendous job teaching the entire offensive system. I previously coached at a high school in South Carolina 10 years ago. The Read & React has made my return to coaching even more fun than before.
Our team bought in to the Read & React and we finished 22-3 this season and were district champions. As a coach getting back into the basketball coaching ranks, I would recommend the Read and React Offense to any new, returning, or veteran coach.
